Meeting between the Director General of Agadev, Mrs Scyrielle Philomene SENDE ETALI, and a delegation from ANAC led by its Director General, Eric Tristan MOUSSAVOU, accompanied by all the players in the air transport sector.

Discussions focused on the rules for implementing the Carbon Initiative in Gabon, in accordance with decree no. 0054 /PR/MECCHF of January 16, 2025 establishing a mechanism for monitoring and offsetting greenhouse gas emissions for air and sea transport operators transiting or operating in the Gabonese Republic.

In line with the Paris Agreement, the Republic of Gabon is committed to maintaining its carbon neutrality by 2050 and beyond.

In line with international commitments in the air and maritime sectors, which are based on the “polluter pays” principle, a sovereign carbon contribution has been introduced for air and sea carriers operating in or transiting through the Gabonese Republic.

The aim of this contribution is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and finance environmental and energy programs that meet the challenges of climate change.

This meeting was the first of a series in which all stakeholders reaffirmed their desire to see this initiative become operational in our country.
